On Wednesday we had Establish and Maintain Plant Collection Unit with Jeanette Spooner in Harbour Terrace. In the morning we started the day by weeding and tidying Manaaki Building restaurant.  After removing the weeds using narrow hoe we gave a clean sweep on that place so its looks really tidy.

After lunch break we started to remove all the damaged, dead and diseased plant material and spinkled dynamic lifter organic based leafy vegetable food to the raised beds is one way to overcome the problem of poor soil or insufficient spaces before sow the seed for germination. The worked beds will be a few inches higher that the surrounding compacted soil allowing for better aeration and drainage. We sow Mesclun (Italian Mixed species), Corn Salad (Verte De Cambrai) Valerianella locust and Coriander Slowbolt (Coriander sativum and Drunken Women Lettuce, Dill (Anethum graveolens) and Lettuce Biscia Rossa (Lactuca saliva) is an attractive Italian bronze oak leaf. it is quick to grow with leaves that redden with age and single loose leaf habit ideal for leaf harvest or as a full head. Tasty and sweet but prefer cooler weather. Plant collection is watered to maintain the soil moisture to at least depth of root growing.

Finally watered the beds opposite of Manaaki Building using irrigation system to all the surrounding plants.  We weeded the bed in front of Block D and removed all the unwanted plants and tidy up the place by giving a good sweep. We adjourned at 4.00 pm.
